We have moved on from Shanghai, and are on our Yangtze River cruise. There's no wifi on this ship, so who knows when I'll actually be able to send this, but we have some downtime now, so it's a good time to catch up.
On Monday we took a flight from Shanghai to the "small town" of Yichang (population 600,000). The flight was a little over an hour long, and our tour guide warned us that the food served on the flight was "ma ma hu hu", a Chinese phrase meaning just so-so. Given that hour-long flights in America rarely even have peanuts these days, we snacked on McDonald's at the airport before we left. We needn't have bothered; this was the light snack they served:
The food was actually pretty good, too! As long as you don't have a peanut allergy.
We drove for a few hours and stopped for dinner, then boarded the cruise ship. Look who was waiting to greet us!
The ship is quite nice. The staff is aggressively friendly- in a good way!- and the food is all buffet style, with plenty of both Chinese and Western options. And all the rooms have great little balconies.
We have not seen the dragons again since boarding, but I'm keeping a close look out.
